Grayson, Lowndes Top USA Today High School Football Southeast Teams
In the latest USA Today High School Football regional Rankings, Grayson, Lowndes, Colquiitt County and Lee County all rank in the top ten. Grayson comes in at No. 1 with a 6-0 record. The Rams have been dominating in most of their wins, however in their match up with Collins Hill, Grayson was held scoreless until the third quarter, in which they trailed 7-0, but then scored 28 unanswered points for the 28-7 win. Against Mill Creek, the Rams found themselves tied up at the end of regulation and would need two overtime periods to pick up a 20-13 win. Grayson will have a bye this week and will face Parkview on October 30th. The Lowndes Vikings come in at No. 2 with a 5-0 record and a defense that has only allowed 15.6 ppg while the offensive production averages 37.6 ppg. Notable wins for the Vikings include their 33-21 win in the Winnersville Classic over Valdosta and their 38-13 win over No. 10 Lee County. Lowndes will face Tift County on October 30. As for the Lee County Trojans (5-1), with the exception of the 38 points given up to Lowndes, the Trojans have only allowed 8.4 ppg in their five wins while averaging almost 40 ppg offensively. The Trojans are off until October 30 when they will take on Houston County (5-2). Colquitt County (4-0) come in at No. 9 and the Packers have dominated their opponents as they have score 50 plus points in three of their four wins. Two of their victories were of 60 points or more!
