Holy Innocents Tennis Still Streaking With Wins Over Whitefield Academy
On Tuesday, the Whitefield Academy Wolfpack boys and girls tennis teams hosted the Holy Innocents Golden Bears in a non-region match up. Both the Golden Bears teams came into Tuesday’s match on win streaks as the girls have won six in a row after falling to St. Pius in early February and the boys, also losers to St. Pius on the same day, have won five straight games. The Holy Innocents girls would keep their win streak alive with a dominating performance as they would sweep Whitefield for a 5-0 win.
On the boys side, the Bears would only drop one match, a doubles match up, but would win the second doubles match and would have a sweeping performance in the singles matches. One of the most impressive winners of the day for Holy Innocents was sophomore Thursten Miklovic, who would win both sets over Whitefield’s Jonathan Kern, 6-1, 6-1, and would improve to 4-1 on the season. Holy innocents’ senior Graham Ponder would be another singles winner for the Bears, winning 6-3 and 6-4.
