Johns Creek Headed To GHSA 6A Championship Game After 4-0 Win Over North Atlanta
On Tuesday, the North Atlanta Warriors hosted the Johns Creek Gladiators in the Georgia High School Association Class 6A boys soccer semifinals, a battle of No. 1 seeds and both teams region champs. Despite the first half coming to an end scoreless, the Gladiators would appear to be the more aggressive of the two teams as they would end the half with over 10 shots on goal to North Atlanta’s three. The Gladiators also controlled the field most of the first half which led to their 10 plus shot attempts.
In the second, the Gladiators would continue to be aggressive on their attacks and about 13 minutes into the period, Johns Creek’s Kamron Gorst would crack through the Warriors defense for a goal to give the Gladiators the 1-0 lead. Roughly four minutes later, Johns Creek would strike again courtesy of a Noel Sanguinetti goal as the Gladiators took a 2-0 lead. A North Atlanta penalty in the box would lead to another goal for Johns Creek as Jeremy Paredes would connect on the penalty kick to put the Gladiators up 3-0 and Gorst would put the match away with his second goal of the game as Johns Creek would go on to pick up the 4-0 win.
Following the match, Johns Creek head coach Kelly Bowler, who has been with the program since the school’s opening, reflected on his postgame comments following their win over Riverwood earlier in the season when he stated that his team was out to win a championship. “They backed every word of it up the entire time,” Bowler said. He went on to add that he was “proud” of his team and their efforts and credited his seniors for their leadership of the team. As for the championship game in which the Gladiators will face Dalton, Bowler made it clear that his team will be “coming to play”.
