Langston Hughes Host Fulton County Championship South Qualifier Meet


On Wednesday, Fulton County hosted their championship qualifying meets with Langston Hughes High School being the site of the South qualifier, which featured host school Langston Hughes, Westlake, Creekside, Riverwood, North Springs, Tri Cities, and Banneker. Milton High School hosted the North qualifier with Alpharetta, Roswell, Northview, Cambridge, Chattahoochee, Centennial, Johns Creek, and host Milton. Top four finishes per event, would qualify for the championship which will take place on Saturday at Westlake High School.


In the girl's events of the South qualifier, Westlake and Riverwood would qualify the most runners and field event participants for Saturday's championship. Westlake's Colleen Branch would qualify in multiple events including the 100M and 200M dashes as well as a member of both the 4x100M and 4x400M relays. Riverwood's Elle Mezzio and Nina Ouellette would each have good outings as they both would qualify for the championship in the 800M and 1600M runs.


In the boys events, several teams would send multiple athletes on to Saturday's championship meet. Langston Hughes qualified two runners in the 100M, 200M and 400M dashes. Westlake will have two representing in the 800M run and Riverwood will have three featured in the 1600M run and two in the 3200M run. Watch highlights from the meet below now!
