Lithia Springs Opens Inaugural Flag Football Season With Double Header Wins Over New Manchester
As the second official season of Georgia High School Association girls flag football has gotten underway, the Lithia Springs Lions and New Manchester Jaguars opened their inaugural seasons facing each other in a double header. Game 1 would remain relatively close throughout most of the game as the Lions were up 9-6 late in the second half before eventually and winning by a final of 16-6.
Game 2 would see both teams struggling to find the end zone in the first half, although Lithia Springs was able to put together a few more positive drives than the Jaguars, still neither team would score before the break. That would all change in the second half as the Lions would explode for 22 unanswered points in route to a 22-0 win.
Two rushing score by Lithia Springs’ Nevaeh Shedrick would help the Lions take a 15-0 lead and a interception returned for a touchdown by Aniyah Kendrick would be the icing on the cake for Lithia Springs as they kicked off their season 2-0 after the wins. Following the game, Lithia Springs head coach, Kendra Pleasants, said her girls worked hard throughout the summer. “It’s a great feeling. The girls, they worked hard. We’ve been working ever since July, individual training, weight room was our key and just going at it every day.”
