McIntosh Elite 8 Bound After 9-0 Win Over Jones County
On Monday, the McIntosh Chiefs girls soccer team hosted the Jones County Greyhounds in the second round of the Georgia High School Association Class 5A state playoffs. The Chiefs, coming off a 10-0 opening round win over Tri Cities, looked to carry the momentum into their match up with the Greyhounds and would go to work early controlling the field. After several shots on goal through the first 15 minutes of play, McIntosh would finally connect as Caroline Kimmel (3 goals) would give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead.
From there, the Chiefs would continue to dominate field control and scoring four more goals to take a 5-0 lead by the break. The second half would mirror the first half offensively and defensively for McIntosh as they would add four more goals in route to a 9-0 win. Bailey Wagonknetch and Bella Duiser would each have two goals in the Chiefs' win. Following the game, McIntosh head coach Casey Kreitner said that "playing as a team" was their focus coming into the match up. "We just wanted to focus on coming out and playing as a team, connecting our passes, get forward and finish our chances," Kreitner said. She added that as far as what she wants to see from her girls as they move along in the playoff, "continuing to bring the intensity" is what she wants them to do.
