Milton Escapes With 54-53 Win Over Houston (Tennessee) In 5-Star Classic
On Saturday, the Milton Eagles closed out their Longhorn 5-Star Classic taking on the Houston Mustangs out of Germantown, Tennessee. The Eagles would find themselves with an early double digit lead in the first quarter but Houston would battle back to eventually take a one point lead, but it would not last long as Milton would close out the opening period with a 21-16 lead. In the second quarter, the Eagles would get a huge lift from Broc Bidwell and Bruce Thorton to take a 37-24 lead into the locker room at the half. Houston would battle back in the third and fourth quarter as Ahmad Nowell and Jerrell Colbert would get hot for the Mustangs. Nowell would eventually tie the game 53-53 with about 30 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, but Milton’s Thorton would get fouled while driving the lane with .4 seconds remaining. Thorton would go 1-2 from the free throw line and Milton would go on to pick up the 54-53 win. Watch highlights from the game below now.
