Milton's Bruce Thornton Earns Gatorade Georgia POTY Honors
On Wednesday, the Gatorade Company continued their tradition of honoring the nation’s top student athletes and on Wednesday announced Milton Eagles guard, Bruce Thornton as the Gatorade Georgia Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Thornton finished this past season averaging 17.2 points per game along with 7.7 rebounds per game and 7.5 assist per game and helped the Eagles reach the Georgia High School Association Class 7A quarterfinals.
Thornton, an Ohio State signee, is ranked the Georgia’s top point guard and ninth in the nation in the ESPN 100 and last season, as a junior, Thornton helped lead the Eagles to a 2020-2021 GHSA Class 7A state title win and was named the Atlanta Journal Constitution 7A Player of the Year. Thornton has also been selected to the First Team All-State three times during his high school career.
