Morrow Mustangs "Committed To Being Better" As They Prepare For 2022 Season
As a new season of high school football nears, the Morrow Mustangs will be looking forward to getting it start on the schools brand new campus, which they are set to move into by August when the school year begins. But while the finishing touches are being taken care of on the future campus, the Mustangs are hard at work with a “committed to being better” mindset.
Now entering into his seventh season as head coach of the Mustangs, coach Jerome Weaks said that as the team enters into their third week of summer workouts, he and his staff have enjoyed seeing the enthusiasm their players have displayed in returning and getting back to work. “Been excited about seeing the guys being excited to be here,” Weaks said after have been with the players over the past couple of weeks.
Weaks went on to say that the Mustang players have been showing great deal of wanting to put in the necessary work and having a level of focus to help the team get better and for he and his staff that “breeds” the excitement for he and his staff. “They’re excited to be here, they’re excited to work,” Weaks said of his players.
Although the 2021 season did not produce the end results the Mustangs hoped for, Weaks said that there was still plenty of things his team displayed that they will be able to build on for the upcoming season. “The resiliency of the guys, the fight, the effort that these guys have given and the mindset that they do not like to lose anything. They don’t want to lose if we’re competing at practice so that competitive nature is going to make us more competitive on the field”.
The Mustangs will open up the 2022 season on August 19th against county rival Forest Park.
