New Manchester Host Lithia Springs, Landmark Christian On The Mat
On Wednesday, the New Manchester Jaguars hosted a tri-match with the Landmark Christian Eagles and the Lithia Springs Lions. The Eagles and Lions would hit the mat first with the Eagles winning the match 38-18, including a 20-3 win by Mattheus Zebroski in the 126 weight class along with a Nathan Cruver win by pin fall at 165 and am 8-6 win by Micah Rogers in the heavy weight division.
The tri-meet would also feature a couple of girls matches between the host Jaguars and Lions as Tahtiana Loper of New Manchester would take just 14 seconds to pick up her victory over Lithia Springs’ Chasity Kidd. “It felt good,” Loper said after her match, reflecting on how she picked up a win in similar fashion last season during her first career match. “My goal this year is to win all my matches,” Loper added as she noted that she’ll be working on more moves to help her accomplish her goal.
In more boys action, another fast win came at the hands of Lithia Springs’ captain, Hunter Cartwright as he picked up the win 27 seconds into the first round. “I was just trying to get it over with as quickly as possible,” Cartwright said of his strategy heading into the 215 pound match. “You don’ want to be in someone else’s good spot. I know what I’m good at, so I try to get there as quickly as I can, and I got it today and just want to keep that up,” Cartwright said after his win.
Despite the performance of Cartwright, New Manchester would pick up the win over Lithia Springs, 48-18.
