Pace Academy host 'Last Chance' invite ahead state championships
The Georgia High School Association Swim and Dive state championships are just a couple of weeks away and swimmers and divers have just a couple opportunities left to qualify and on Saturday, the Pace Academy Knights hosted their last chance invitational featuring several teams from around the metro area.
Among some of Saturday's qualifiers included Pace Academy's Reid Richardson in the boys 100 meter free style, who's first place finish in a time of 50.76 came in nearly two seconds under the the state qualifying time of 52 seconds. In the girls 100 meter free style, Holy Innocents' Lucy Greene would punch her ticket into state with her first place finish of 57.92 and North Atlanta's Cameryn Wils would take second and just beat the 58.5 qualifying time as she would finish at 58.49.
Among some of the host Knights' other state qualifiers included the boys 200 meter freestyle relay team of Lane Canova, Matthew Bramwell, Reid Richardson and Mason Hade, as the quartet finished with a 1:32.54 qualifying time, almost eight seconds under the 1:40 state qualifying time. North Atlanta would also qualify in the event with a time of 1:36.58. The Warriors would also see their girls 200 meter free style relay team punch their ticket into state as they qualified with a time of 1:51.58, beating the state qualifying time of 1:53.
The GHSA Swim and Dive state championships will take place February 6-10, 2024 at Westminster and the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center
