Pebblebrook Closes "Holiday Hoopsgiving" With 80-61 Win Over Real Salt Lake
On Saturday, the Pebblebrook Falcons were back in action on day two of the annual “Holiday Hoopsgiving” basketball showcase. The Falcons kicked off the showcase with a 62-55 loss to Wasatch Academy out of Mt. Pleasant, Utah and looked to pick up a win over Real Salt Lake Academy out of Herriman, Utah on Saturday.
The Falcons opened up the game on a quick 6-2 run, but the Griffins would quickly close the gap and the two teams would keep things close throughout the first quarter as it would end in a 19-19 tie. The second quarter would see the Falcons begin to create some separation as they would go up by as many as 13 points and would lead 36-23 at the half.
The third and fourth quarters would all be the same as Pebblebrook would go up by as many as 20 points and would go on to pick up the 80-61 win, improving to 4-1 on the season. Following the win, Pebblebrook head coach, George Washington, said despite the goal being to go 2-0 in the showcase, he was pleased with the 1-1 results against nationally ranked opponents.
“I think the guys did a good job of executing and following the game plan. The goal was to win two, but to come out one and one is too bad against two teams that are nationally ranked in the country,” Washington said after the Falcons win on Saturday. Pebblebrooks’ Kami Young led all players with a game high 26 points and Jordan Brown added 21 points.
