PSN Spotlight - Creekside Seminoles Look To Build Off 2020 Region Championship Season
As the 2021 season quickly approaches, the Creekside Seminoles are back on the grind and looking to continue building upon the success they have been having under head coach, Maurice Dixon. Dixon, now heading into his sixth season as head coach of the Seminoles, has lead them to the post-season in four of his first five seasons with two region championships to go along with it. A former Creekside player himself, Dixon says having someone with the “Creekside DNA” has played a role into helping him turn things around in “The Swamp”.
“I really don’t anybody understands what Creekside needs to be successful than a guys that comes from Creekside and has that Creekside DNA,” Dixon said at a recent Seminoles practice. So for Dixon, being given the opportunity to “provide structure and instill toughness” and stressing the importance of the classroom ahead of football, is something he believes has allowed he and his staff to come in and create a stable winning culture at Creekside.
As for what Dixon wants to see out of his guys over the course of the next month in preparation for the upcoming season, getting “better” each day is all he and his staff is asking of their players. “I think for the past three years, we’ve been a play or two away so I think the emphasis is trying to be perfect,” Dixon said adding, we just want to be better every day and we’ll just takes steps to winning a state championship. The Seminoles will open up the 2021 season on August 20 against defending Georgia High School Association Class 7A state champs, the Grayson Rams.
