In three weeks, the Charles Drew Titans will open up their 2021 season against the Coffee Trojans. This will be the second consecutive seasons the Titans and Trojans kickoff their seasons facing each other and for the Titans and head coach, Steve Robinson, the time they spent on the “grind” this past spring and summer has readied them for their season opener and the new season.

“It’s definitely been a grind, a good grind,” Coach Robinson said of the time the Titans have had together over the spring and summer as they get ready for the upcoming season. Robinson added that the time together also gave the Titans a chance to “bond and mesh”, something important for the family mentality that they believe in. “There was still some challenges, but the camaraderie and us spending time with each other, it was just great,” said Robinson.

Last season, the Titans were a game or two away from missing out on the GHSA state playoffs and as they look to establish themselves as one of Clayton County’s top programs and Robinson says he’s seen a lot of confidence in his guys as a result of them getting that close to a playoff berth. “A lot of confidence, but you use that confidence on the front end to fuel what we did in the off season,” Robinson said, adding that they have been really “motivated” by it all. The Titans will take on Coffee on August 20 in their season opener.
