Trojans Hold Off Bulldogs As Banneker Defeats Tri Cities 13-10 In Double Overtime
On Friday, the Banneker Trojans hosted the Tri Cities Bulldogs in a key region match up for both teams. Heading into the night, the Bulldogs were sitting in fourth place in the region standings while the Trojans held the sixth place position behind the Bulldogs and Mundy's Mill. The game saw both teams playing well on the defensive end as they held each other scoreless in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs would strike first thanks to a Amarion Hicks touchdown pass to Delorenzo Dixon as Tri Cities would go up 7-0. Late in the second quarter, the Bulldogs looked to add to their lead, threatening in the red zone, but the Trojans would come up with a huge defensive stop on a third and goal and then later block the fourth down field goal attempt. The Trojans would finally get on the board in the fourth quarter thanks to quarterback keeper up the middle by Terrell Riley and the game would be tied 7-7. The game would remain tied through the end of regulation and after the first overtime period would still be tied 10-10. In the second overtime, the Trojans' defense would force another fumble and on their ensuing possession kick the game winning field goal. With the win and thanks to a Mundy's Mill loss, the Trojans move into fourth place in the region and the Bulldogs drop to fifth. Banneker will face Mundy's Mill next and close out with Forest Park.
