Underclassmen shine at 54th Metro Swimming and Diving Invitational, Heard County tops Blue Devils Brawl
As winter sports head into the final stretch of their regular seasons, annual invitationals featuring team from throughout the metro Atlanta area took place on Saturday including the Marietta Blue Devils wrestling team's "Blue Devil Brawl" and the 54th Metro Swimming and Diving Invitational, hosted by the Westminster Wildcats.
While the Heard County Braves own the day at the Blue Devils Brawl, winning four of the seven finals they had wrestlers featured in, the Metro Invitational featured several underclassmen having standout days in the pool, including Midtown sophomore, Sarah Paisley Owens, who would cap her day with a 1:50.51 finish in the girls 200M Freestyle finals.
Other notable wins by underclassmen included Blessed Trinity freshman, Will Kaminsky, who would capture first in the finals of the boys 200IM in a time of 1:58.01 and Lovett freshman, Decker Stedman, who took home first in the girls 50M freestyle in a meet record time of 23.90. Westminster sophomore, Connor Christopherson, had a day as well, winning the boys 50M freestyle in 20.44, a tenth of a second off from tying the meet record.
