Walker knows 'playing together' key for postseason run
On Tuesday, the Walker Wolverines volleyball team wrapped their regular season in a tri-match with region rivals, North Cobb Christian School and Mount Paran Christian School just ahead of their region tournament on Thursday to determine seeding for the Georgia High School Association Class 2A state championship tournament. “This is kind of a good little warm up to get us ready for Thursday and come back and play hard,” Walker head coach, Ryan Stadler said on Tuesday following their first match against North Cobb Christian.
And while Tuesday’s tilt with both North Cobb Christian and Mount Paran would have no impact on any of the three schools making the postseason, it would give Walker an opportunity to get another look at the two teams in preparation for the region tournament and stay on track with their “focus” for the season Stadler explained. “It’s really been about being a team, playing together, trusting each other, and really seeing them come together as a team and push hard is been our goal the whole season and that’s sort of the final little piece we’re looking for tonight,” Stadler added.
Earlier in the season the Wolverines fell to both North Cob Christian and Mount Paran by a final of 2-0, so and while Tuesday was an opportunity to even out the season series with both teams, wins o Thursday would put Walker on top, particularly, a number one seed for the state championship tournament. “Play together, be one as a group and get the victories on Thursday,” Stadler said.
