Warner Robins Routes Carterville 62-28 For GHSA 5A State Title, QB Jalen Addie Six Touchdowns

On Wednesday, the Georgia High School Association football state championships continued on the third and final day and in the Class 5A title game, the Warner Robins Demons took on the Cartersville Hurricanes. Cartersville would get a really quick start when wide receiver, Sam Phillips would take the opening kickoff back for a touchdown to put the Canes up 7-0 just seconds into the game. The Demons would respond on the ensuing possession as they marched down the field before finally punching it in on a Ahmad Walker rushing touchdown on a third a goal play as Warner Robins would tie the game 7-7. On the very next possession, the Canes would strike again as Carlos Del Rio Wilson would throw his first touchdown of the game to Devonte Ross as Cartersville would regain the lead going up 14-7. Just as they did at the start of the game, the Demons would answer when quarterback Jalen Addie would throw his first of six touchdowns to Malcolm Brown to make a 14-14 game. The turning point for Warner Robins would be an interception by their defense of a Del Rio Wilson pass which would set up another Addie touchdown throw, this time to Kaleb Howard, to give the Demons their first lead of the game as they would go up 21-14. As the Demons' defense would hold the Canes scoreless for the remainder of the first half, Addie would rush for two more touchdowns and Warner Robins would take a 42-21 lead into the locker room at the half. In the third quarter, the Demons score once again on another rushing touchdown by Jahlen Rutherford which would put Warner Robins up 42-14 which would prove to be a deficit the Canes could not overcome as Warner Robins would go on to win 62-28.
