Westminster Dominates The Mat On "Senior Night" In win Over St. Pius
On Wednesday, the Westminster Wildcats wrestling team hosted the St. Pius Golden Lions in a dual meet as the Wildcats celebrated senior night, honoring six of their class of 2022 wrestlers including, Luca Fleury, Thomas Eidbo, Spencer Gosden, Daniel Nunez, and Chase Cha. Following the senior night ceremony, the Wildcats would go to work immediately on the mat, taking five of the first six matches that included a first round win by Robert Crim at 120 pounds and three second round wins and seniors Eidbo, Gosden and Nunez were all victorious in their match ups.
The dominance by the Wildcats would lead them to a 54-24 win over the Golden Lions, making the final home meet for the Westminster seniors one to remember and for head coach, L.B. Joel, the win was even more special as this is his first graduating class of wrestlers that he has coached from their freshman year. “It was great! They’ve been working hard all year and it was a great way to pay it off,” Joel said following the Wildcats’ win on Wednesday adding that watching the work that his wrestlers have put in over the years made it “a very special night”.
