Wheeler sits at 2-1 in region play after their win over Cherokee in our PSN Notable Wins from Week 8
10. Alpharetta def. South Forsyth 37-20 - While the Raiders have been down for the first half of the season, in addition to getting their first win on Friday, the victory allows them to improve to 1-2 in the region standings. With four games remaining all against region opponents and currently sitting in the fifth position in the standings, the Raiders find themselves on the outside looking in and would likely need to win out in order to potrntially reach the postseason.
9. Wheeler def. Cherokee 28-27 - The Wildcats have put together back to back wins for the first time this season and most importantly have improved to 2-1 in the region standings are their win over Cherokee on Friday. The Wildcats have three games remaining with a struggling Etowah on the schedule next and will look to make it three straight wins.
8. ELCA def. Eagle's Landing 14-7 - It has been a rough start to the season in year three under head Tanner Rogers as they opened up with five straight losses before Friday's win. And while the Chargers are likely going to miss the playoffs for the first time in 28 years as they currently sit in the eighth position in the standings and two games back of the current fourth place team, Hampton.
7. Morrow def. Northgate 7-3 - While it was not the most dominating performance, a win is a win and after defeating Northgate, who was favored in the matchup, the Mustangs snapped a four game losing streak and in doing so has positioned themselves on the outside looking in as they currently maintain the fifth position in the region standings, a behind Northgate.
6. New Manchester def. South Paulding 39-6 - While the win itself was not unexpected, the Jaguars defeat of South Paulding allowed them to improve to 6-1 overall, which is their best start through seven games for the first time in program history. New Manchester is now in their second season under head coach Olten Downs, who led them to four wins in first season after they were winless in 2022.
5. Benedictine def. Warner Robins 35-21 - The Cadets opened their region play with a win over a Warner Robins team, which was riding a five game win streak and now, along with Perry, remains as one of the only two teams unbeaten in region play. The Cadets also extend their current win streak to three in a row following Friday's victory.
4. Stockbridge def. Ola 14-10 - In one of the biggest region matchups of the week, the Tigers found themselves battling from behind to come on top in the low scoring affair and taking sole possession of first place in the region standings. With three games remaining against Union Grove, ELCA and Woodland-Stockbridge, the Tigers are in the driver seat to claim their third consecutive region title.
3. Jackson def. Pike County 12-7 - After three consecutive loss, the Red Devils appear to back on track following their second straight win, which is also allowed them to improve to 2-0 in the region standings.
2. Heard County def. Temple - 31-14 - As teams look to create some separation in 1A Division I, Region 6, the Braves now find themselves as one of the last teams to suffer a region loss as they picked up their second straight victory after defeating Temple, ending their three game win streak. A win over Darlington this Friday would give the sole possession of first place in the standings.
1. Commerce def. Rabun County 42-38 - As the Tigers looked to find some consistency, their win over Rabun County may give them the momentum they are in need of as they notched their second straight win. Most importantly, Commerce's win over Rabun County helps them improve to 2-1 in region play as they region race four a top four position remains close and their one region loss coming at the hands of Athens Academy, who sits at 7-0 overall and 3-0 in region play.
