Whitefield Kicks Off Region With Win Over Kings Ridge, Extends Win Streak To Four In A Row
On Thursday, the Whitefield Academy Wolfpack girls soccer team looked to extend their current win streak to four in a row as they hosted the Kings Ridge Tigers in the region opener for both teams. While the Tigers looked to pick up their first win of the season, the Wolfpack set the tone early with several shots on goal within the first minutes of play.
Whitefield took control of the pitch almost immediately after first kick as they dominated possession with sophomore Abby White utilizing her speed to help the Wolfpack with their attack. And despite solid play in goal by Kings Ridge goal keeper, Annika Smith, who normally plays defender, but had to fill in as the Tigers were short at goalie, Whitefield would strike for two early goals in the first half including one by May, which gave them a 1-0 lead just minutes into the match.
The Wolfpack’s second goal would be one assisted by May as her cross would be received by Hannah Docabo, who finished with two goals on the night, her second also assisted by May. Up 3-0, Whitefield would tack ono their fourth goal of the night with minutes left in the first half as Hadley DeMyer would strike for the score as May would assist for her third of the night and the Wolfpack would go on to pick up the 4-0 win.
