Yasmine Allen signs her national letter of intent with family and friends in attendance

Heading into the 2023-2024 season, Yasmine Allen was set to add the final layer to her high school career basketball career, but was unfortunately sidelined do to rules surrounding her transfer from Forest Park to Archer. Unfortunately, endless attempts to have Allen's eligibility cleared for her senior season would go unsuccessful, however she would not let that stop her efforts to continue her academic and athletic career.

"It's really great, I'm happy about it," Allen said on Saturday as she signing her national letter of intent to continue her career at Gulf Coast State College, with family, former teammates and friends on hand to celebrate in her moment. "I didn't even know if I was going to have a college to go to because of all the stuff I went through my senior year," Allen said, acknowledging her fear of possibly not getting an opportunity to move on in her career.

Along comes Gulf Coast, who Allen said that following her visit to Panama City, she knew almost immediately she wanted to be a part of the Commodores' family. "I really liked it," Allen said of Gulf Coast. "It's a beautiful place," Allen added. She would go on to add that encouragement from family and friends also played a key role in her efforts to push through the challenge of not playing her final season of high school basketball and pursue her dream, many of whom were in attendance on Saturday.

"It made me happy, I haven't seen some in a while, but it's good that they're here," Allen said of those who came out to support her.
